About International Climate Initiative (IKI)
The International Climate Initiative (IKI) is an important part of the German government’s international climate finance commitment since 2008 that has been contributing to the protection of the climate and biodiversity by fulfilling its international obligations within the international community.
Within the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), and the Federal Foreign Office (AA) are responsible for the International Climate Initiative.

About IKI Indonesia
As one of IKI’s priority countries, Indonesia hosts 53 ongoing IKI projects as of December 2024. These include 29 mitigation projects, 2 adaptation project, 6 natural carbon sinks projects, and 16 biodiversity projects.
The IKI Indonesia (“IKI Hub Indonesia”) is implemented by GIZ Indonesia and ASEAN through the Climate and Biodiversity Hub Indonesia project.
Moreover, IKI Indonesia also plays a crucial role in connecting all IKI projects and implementing partners in the country through a range of activities, including thematic discussions, IKI Indonesia newsletters, workshops, and other collaborative knowledge-sharing initiatives.
This interface project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in collaboration with two key Indonesian government partners: the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
