Climate and Biodiversity Hub Indonesia

This project supports the Indonesian government in mainstreaming its climate and biodiversity policies into national development planning. To this end, it trains staff of relevant line ministries and strengthens cooperation with civil society and academia. The project also advises on improving competencies for transparent reporting, financial resource mobilisation and knowledge exchange with the international community. As an IKI interface project, it is responsible for networking and communication between the implementing organisations of IKI projects in Indonesia.

Some priorities activities such as policy advisory, capacity building and interministerial exchange support the advancement of a holistic approach towards climate and biodiversity policy planning and implementation, as well as mainstreaming with national development planning.

ClimB

  1. Support the process of mid-term review of the RPJMN 2020-2024 to track progress of the implementation of the Low Carbon Development Indonesia (LCDI) initiative.
  2. Provide input on the scenario modelling of low carbon development in the framework of green economy, with focus on the agriculture sector, for the formulation of the RPJMN 2025-2029 and RPJPN 2025-2045.
  3. Support on G20 Development Working Group side event to measure progress of low carbon and green economy index dissemination.
  4. Enhance the monitoring and evaluation framework for low carbon development and green economy index through AKSARA and biodiversity management within the national development plans.
  5. Provide input and facilitate process in developing Indonesia Biodiversity Strategy Action Plan (IBSAP) Post-2020 framework which is aligned to RPJPN 2025-2045.
  6. Provide updates on national biodiversity status, assessment of Sumatera and Sulawesi ecoregions, and interlinkages study between climate change, biodiversity and green economy.
  7. ⁠Facilitate networking and knowledge exchange between Indonesian-German government and IKI implementors through Annual IKI Networking Workshops, Thematic Workshops (eg. forestry, peatland, and biodiversity) and IKI Newsletter.
  8. ⁠Showcase testimonies from partners and beneficiaries of IKI-funded projects implementing activities in Indonesia through video which provides insight to the difference IKI support makes on the ground.

CLARITY

  1. Support the preparation of Indonesia Enhanced NDC (ENDC) document that has been submitted to the UNFCCC on 23 September 2022.
  2. ⁠Support the preparation of Near Zero Emission Waste (NZEW) 2050 document with milestones to reach near zero emission in the waste sector.
  3. Support on G20 Climate Sustainability Working Group to prepare joint issue note, joint action plan, building blocks, and Ministerial communique.
  4. ⁠Facilitate the G20 Side-Event on partnerships for ocean-climate nexus to advance ocean-based mitigation and adaptation actions in September 2022.
  5. ⁠Support the preparation of Indonesia Adaptation Communication (ADCOM) document that has been submitted to the UNFCCC in November 2022.
  6. Facilitate workshop on “More Ambitious NDCs” in Indonesian Pavilion at the COP 27.
  7. Facilitate Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA) Capacity-Building Workshop on the design and use of monitoring and evaluation tools for EbA.
  8. ⁠Facilitate the preparation meetings and input for international climate change negotiation.
  9. ⁠Support on the development of Indonesian Biodiversity Clearing House BKKHI monitoring system master plan by incorporating Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) Kunming Montreal and Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030 indicators.
