On August 15, 2024, Bappenas and BIOFIN held a focus group discussion titled “Optimizing the Role of the Private Sector in Biodiversity Management in Indonesia.” The discussion aimed to identify initiatives and the role of the private sector in environmental protection and management, including opportunities and challenges in the implementation of nature-related disclosures. It also focused on discussing strategic steps and stages for stakeholder involvement in increasing the contribution of the private sector to environmental conservation. Indonesia is enhancing its biodiversity management through the Indonesia Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (IBSAP) 2025- 2045, which emphasizes public-private collaboration and sustainable financing. Speakers from the Directorate of Development Funding Planning, PROPER KLHK, OJK, and ASTRA discussed ways to encourage private sector participation through nature and environmental disclosure contributing to national biodiversity targets. In conclusion, the stakeholders committed to fostering inclusive partnerships, securing sustainable financing, and aligning efforts to achieve Indonesia’s long-term biodiversity goals.
