A workshop on strengthening local government capacity for environmental conservation was held in Semarang on 25 November 2024. The event discussed biodiversity conservation strategies, including the implementation of Ecological Fiscal Transfer (EFT), an ecological performance-based financial incentive for regions with strong environmental efforts. This policy will be implemented in 2025 based on the Environmental Performance Evaluation (KLH).

Additionally, Bantuan Keuangan Hijau is provided to recognize and support regions that actively protect the environment. Siak Regency was highlighted as a successful case of ecological-based financial incentives, encouraging villages to improve their sustainability index.

The workshop also emphasized the development of conservation areas, such as biodiversity parks and urban forests. A minimum of three hectares is considered ideal for maintaining ecosystem balance. Indrokilo Botanical Garden in Boyolali was showcased as a model for conservation, education, and ecotourism.

During the discussion, Sukoharjo and Wonosobo regencies shared their plans for green space utilization and collaboration with the forestry sector. The workshop concluded that ecological-based incentives will be a key strategy for conservation in Central Java, with the first implementation planned for 2025 to support sustainable development.
